Nassawango Creek to Shad Landing: Saturday, September 30, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Help celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pocomoke River State ParkThe Pocomoke River Canoe Company will meet you at 9:00 a.m. at the Shad Landing Marina in Pocomoke River State Park. You will leave your vehicle in the marina parking lot and be delivered to the Nassawango Creek canoe launch at Red House Road, where your paddling adventure begins.

From Red House Road, your guide will lead you through Nassawango Creek, a narrow, winding tributary of the Pocomoke River. You’ll paddle through towering Bald Cypress trees that provide shade and shelter for woodpeckers, Wood Ducks and Barred Owls. The tour will continue south on the Pocomoke River, and will end back at the Shad Landing Marina where your car is parked.

After the paddle, you are invited to join the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and the Maryland Park Service to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Pocomoke River State Park. The ceremony begins at 1:00 p.m. at the Manokin and Algonquin Picnic Shelters near the marina. Light refreshments will be served.
